If you are planning an event and think you might require OIT's support for Audio Visual (AV) or Information Technology (IT), please plan ahead. OIT can and should be your partner in planning and execution to ensure that your AV and IT needs are met. This guide provides the steps to follow.
How to Know if You Might Need OIT
If you're not sure whether you might need OIT support or consultation for your event, ask yourself the following questions:
- Does the event include connecting a computer to a screen for shared display or using a smart board (Vibe board, Neat board)?
- Does the event include microphones, audio, and/or video cameras?
- Is this a large event with presented content where attendees might have difficulty hearing or seeing?
- Am I engaging or planning to engage with an external vendor or venue to provide AV or IT support for the event?
If the answer to any of the above is "Yes," please be sure to follow the steps below to get OIT support.
How to Get OIT's Support for Your Event
Follow the below steps to get OIT's support for preparing for and executing your event. Please plan in advance as last-minute requests may not be feasible to accommodate.
- Submit your event request through the DPM and mark "Yes" in response to the question of “Does Your Event Need Office of Information Technology (OIT) Services?”
- Once your event is approved, submit a ticket to the IT help desk by either:
- choosing the "Event Support" category from the help desk web form under "What's the issue?"
- emailing OIThelps@dc.gov. Be sure to include the date(s) of your event and the type of support needed
